This I think is a good example of a client having more of his own direction in terms of what he wanted, but I still felt I was in my "comfort zone".

This client wanted a more 1920s look, he was a former Flusser customer and he was a fan of Anderson and Shepherd, so stylistically he had in mind a rather different garment than what I normally produce.

The client also stressed comfort in the suit so it is made rather roomy in the shoulders, half back and waist. Still I managed to put some shape in the garment and actually give the coat a waist. At this fitting the client still asked me about letting out the waist and I advised him not to. The coat is longer, the trousers are full cut and the lapels are probably a bit wider than I would normally do.

I like it though, looks like a 1920s suit through a David Reeves filter. The cloth is also great.

Very cool. I've been catching some classic movies lately, and the drape on some of those suits were interesting (Look up Spencer Tracy to get an idea of what I'm talking about).

What's your personal preference with sleeves and trouser length?

I like to show a lot of cuff and I like the trousers to just touch the the top of the boot with no break. Generally I wear chelsea boots of some description. when I wear a shoe, I wear a wider cut with a longer trouser.

Nice looking shirt. How is that fabric? Does it hold up well?

I just got five of these for myself and was wearing one yesterday in plain white under a sweater (its not really the weather for these shirts in NYC just yet).

They feel great, very soft considering the linen content. The creases the shirt got after a days wear, were soft and actually rather pleasant looking. Much better than a creased cotton or regular linen shirt. This is probably the ultimate, business summer shirt fabric.
