Does anyone still own and use a Reel To Reel audio system?

I think they are the forgotten brother of the vinyl cult.

I used an old tubed Tandberg and a four-channel Teac with some regularity in the 90's, but alignment and calibration became too much trouble. They really did have some nice qualities---the Tandberg in particular.

I own several classical tapes, but I don't have a working r to r. I bought one (Teac) as a project 4-5 years ago and couldn't get it working.

Continue to spin the vinyl all day.

I think Patsy Cline sounds very nice on these.

I have my share of anachronistic tendencies, but when it comes to audio/video, I simply hate tape in any incarnation -- Casette, 8-track,VHS,Betamax,8mm, Reel -- whatever. Can't stand the stuff. Yes, it is a pet peccadillo.

And to think, I considered installing an Eight-Track machine in my car!
