So for these, I gotta size down 1/2 for good fit? Is that the forum consensus??

I wear 10Ds in Allen Edmonds 5th Ave, and my 9.5 Iron Rangers fit perfectly.

yeh i really want a pair of the Wabasha Chukkas, having a bit of trouble finding them online though...

I'm a 7D in my Redwing GT - should I get the same size? How's the fit?

The wabasha chukka boot in the pre-distressed form is available through J. Crew: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_feature/in...0502/30502.jsp

Note when I purchased mine, it said they were back ordered until 11/29/10. Then they showed up at my door a few days later. My normal size in sneakers and dress shoes is a 9D. I sized down one half size to a 8.5D. Still slightly roomy, but okay -- not big enough to need to return.

If you're not interested in the pre-distressed, and also not interested in the chukka boot -- and just the low top chukka -- look on eBay:

I already see some 7.5 E's.

oboy - Not seeing the sale pricing on any of the shoes you mentioned. I see the site has 30% off but does not seem to apply to Red Wing. Please confirm.

I have never worn a 6 inch/ankle boot, they seem pretty uncomfortable since the top always rubs my leg. Does this change? I am use to military style boots that really hug your leg so they never rub.

There is something about Redwings that really bothers me.. It might be the thick soles.. The newer styles are definitely getting a little slicker though..

Huh. That's odd. Those styles all had sale prices listed when I posted that note. But you're right: Now they don't. Maybe the sale wasn't supposed to include Red Wing, and they messed up and then fixed it.

Sorry.

I'm geeking out over the orthopedic shoe looking Work Chukka 9196. They remind me of the creepers I used to wear in the mid 80s. Good times.

Hey guys, just a quick question before I pull the trigger and buy these locally.

Would these look decent with dress pants for winter? I'm looking to buy boots that could pass with dress pants when I leave my dress shoes at the office.

Thanks!
