    Hey guys,

I am looking for an urban winter boot (I live in Germany - the streets are wet all winter and we have some days with somewhat heavy snow). I really like the Beckman, but I can`t wear them, as they are not wide enough for my wide feet.

Which Models can you guess recommend? (keep in mind: I want a Winterboot)

I like the classic workboot look and will mostly wear them with jeans. I really like the LL Bean Katahdin Boot, but it isnt available in Germany. I can get the Chippewa Men's 6" Chocolate Apache for 125 on ebay (they offer the EE width, which is probly the way to go for me?!), but they dont look as stylisch and well made like the Red Wings.

Any other recommendation? I am ready to look into a different direction as well.

I would email Red Wing Heritage in Amsterdam and ask them which (if any) from the Heritage line come in widths, and just go from there. Basically anything but a cork sole (Iron Rangers)...or plan on getting them resoled from cork to dainite/leather commando/etc.

I'm glad I got my Iron Rangers in size 12, because 13 would have been too long.

Regarding the leather insoles on Red Wings, how much do they mold to your feet? I have high arches and slightly wide feet, so they're not really comfortable when I try them on in the shop. Do they break in (and sink in) to become significantly more comfortable? Does the sole material factor into this, or do they all have the same sort of footbed?

I think it depends on the style of the redwings i know the postman's footbed molds to your foot it specifically says it on the official site and i own them.

Most comfortable shoes i have for all day walking. After break in of course.

Hm. I can't seem to find a lot of info on this, one way or the other. The Postman has a crepe sole, and other than the 'moldable' description, it doesn't say much else. Unfortunately this is the sort of thing that I can't test myself. I'm looking at a Work/Beckman Chukka, maybe even GTs or Iron Rangers.

I'm not a fan. I love Iron Rangers and I love brogues (and I love a lot of brogued/wingtip boots), but I don't like the Brogue Ranger.

My GTs have molded nicely and are very comfortable. I have pretty normal feet, so they were never uncomfortable but they certainly molded a bit with wear.

I have a newer pair of Beckman chukkas, and they fit a bit different: fully lined, so quite a bit more snug. They feel stiffer overall and are taking longer to soften up, though they have the same insole so I suspect they will end up the same.

You could add a thin insole layer like a Dr. Scholls or even one of the super thin versions of a Superfeet-like insole for a better fit (but you'd need to size appropriately for the latter, for sure.)

This is exactly how I feel. For some reason the proportions seem off and it's not as attractive as it could/should be. And I really like captoe boots...

Same goes for me. The boot feels like it's trying to be too many things.

Where can an Australian get a pair of Red Wing Beckman in Black Cherry? I tried the only Red Wing store in Australia but they only have the Beckman in Cigar and that doesn't come in until 2 weeks. I heard Revolve sells the Black Cherry but on the site it says: 'Red Wing Shoes ships to US & Canada only'. Plus they don't have my size anyway since I'm size 8 but should size down so need a size 7.5.

Is there an store that will sell me a pair of Red Wing Beckman in Black Cherry size 7.5?
