How do you like the crepe sole of those boots ? I imagine it is softer to the touch and more cushiony for walking than the rubber wedge sole Red Wing uses for its classic moc toe work boots.

it’s the same as 101 and I like it. It’s comfy but not as soft as something like the Clark’s desert boot crepe sole. I

Within Red Wing's current line is the 8" boot model number 953, which I guess is the one you have. Please do post a photo or two of your boots. I've worn my 6" #952 boots several days now and like them very much.

There you go. Forgot to check the model no. before I put them on. They are a few years old and worn purely for work site visits when required. Very comfortable and supportive.

My Red Wing 4585 Heritage Loggers in Briar Oil Slick.

wish I’d got a pair when they were available. I went with t sawmills instead and found them too narrow.

My trusty, comfortable Copper worksmith chukka’s today. Perfect with a well worn pair of White Oak selvedge 501’s.

These are 6 years old and would benefit from a resole soon.

To care for my Red Wing shoes and boots I often clean with saddle soap and on occasion apply boot oil.

I’ve always used the all natural boot oil too and find it a good product. Light application doesn’t seem to darken the leather much.

I use saddle soap occasionally if really needed. Otherwise just a brush down or damp cloth.

If you use saddle soap and boot oil on your pair of 953's, please post a photo.

If I could find a pair of those for sale I would buy them.

I got my pair from Nordstroms rack. They appeared on the website as single pair in my size. I think they were drop-shipped from a brick and mortar NR location and didn't come in a RW box. They were clearly tried on but def still new. Anyway, this was a LONG time after they were no longer available at retail (were they ever in the US? I think they might have been an Asian market exclusive) so I think they were a return from someone abusing the Nordstrom's return policy. Never saw them pop up again at the Rack/Sierra/Berkeley etc.
