I've been searching the forums high and low, and the rest of the internet for that matter, and I'm trying to get some clarity on how the black cherry featherstone leather and the cigar featherstone leather can be treated with certain oils and what they end up looking like after doing so, and with some wear.

I like the black cherry, but it comes off really purple in some photos, and I just can't pull the trigger on something I think I am going to look at and think "purple shoes" every time I put them on. and really, what do you wear purple shoes with?

but the cigar featherstone seems just a touch too tan.

where is that straight up dark brown? thats really what i'm looking for.

    thanks for any help!

I'm looking for the same colour!

I think the brown you are talking about has been lightened to be the cigar colour you see today, which is definitely more orange/tan than it used to be. I was in the Red Wing store in London at the weekend and the salesman stated that the colour has been changed, due to it being too close to black and cherry black.

Both called cigar, but I think it's lighter now.
