Red tie, blue shirt

Will the combination below work? Hard to tell in the photo but it's a light blue shirt. Pants will either be black or dark navy. No jacket.

It automatically doesn't work, because you're wearing a tie without a jacket.

But seriously, if you have no choice in the matter of wearing a tie without a jacket, then this is a fine combination.

Avoid the black pants if possible and wear a jacket if possible (outside of certain uniform-type requirements, if it's formal enough for a tie, you really need a jacket). As for the shirt and tie combination, I think you made the right shirt choice as a blue shirt is the best background for that tie, though I prefer dark reds and burgundies to what appears to be a brighter red. Don't wear that tie with a white shirt.

Blue shirt,Navy jacket,grey trousers,dark brown shoes(though u can't go wrong with black,burgurndy or light brown) and you are good to go.Also add a white PS :)
