I'm thinking of buying this pair of eyeglasses

    http://www.amazon.com/Prada-Linea-R...CPLK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312871876&sr=8-1.

The glasses I have now is a black rectangular metal frame with black plastic arms (51mm 17mm 135mm).

Since I'm in Canada, I'm a more then hesitent of buying it online in the US. I like the red frame colour but I'm not to sure how that shade would look on my brownish/yellowish skin tone. Last thing I want is to pay the $$$ and look up like this guy >>> :foo:

Does anyone have good eyeglasses advice; online or otherwise? Is red a good colour for mens glasses?

    Thank you!

IMHO red is a horrible color for men's glasses. (actually for women too) If you want a thick frame you should try the Ray Ban New Wayfarer frames (available in any color you want) Or Tom Ford (but they are much more expensive as you probably already know) :satisfied:

I think it looks bad too. If you want colourful glasses, you might consider black frames on the outside and color on the inside. The exact opposite of this, for example.

See if you can find them in an optical shop near you to test out.

Well, I don't claim to be an expert, but I'm very short-sighted, and I've worn glasses for many years, so my comments are based on that experience.

I don't understand the trend to thick-framed spectacles. I realise that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think any kind of thick frame is ugly. The red frames are especially hideous. Surely selecting a frame that doesn't draw attention to itself is the way to go.

Why not try rimless glasses, assuming that they are suitable for your prescription?

This is probably not the response that you were hoping for, and I suspect that you're already 90% decided on this issue, but please give some further thought to the matter before you commit yourself.

Very few can pull it off.

Maybe an older established gentlemen and with a tweed jacket and bowtie.

Or maybe if your this guy:

I don't like those; too much red. If you want red, look at Alain Mikli since their frames are a) more unusual, b) often not one solid color, and c) a bit more understated due to their smaller size.

I had a co-worker who owned red frames and it looked great on him. I would only recommend trying this if you already have a good rotation of other colors AND you are dark skinned, I'm not entirely sure but Moscot's Nebb style may have a pair in red so feel free to check that out and the measurements.

Change of plans! Apparently there's a 100% free frames and lenses sale going on today in Canada and I'm thinking of getting this one here.

It's a darker and more subdued red and not as obnoxious as some would find it in this thread...

I'm also 99% planing on getting this pair here as well...

My prescription is too high for rimless + I have astigmatism in one eye so the lenses would be lopsided :(

What are anyone thoughts on this 2 free pairs of eyeglasses?

Thanks for all the help so far!!!
