I'm new to the whole raw denim. I'm a soccer player so I have a bit of muscle in my calves and thighs. I like a slim fit but I want to be able to get the jeans on. What raw denim jeans do you guys recommend for around 150-220$?

Kicking Mule Workshop; retail is 275 but Revolve has a nice 30% off for first time buyers.

PC new standards are a good "beginner raw denim."

the price point is right and you can get a feel for the whole process of breaking in denim in the long run, and if you decide it's not really for you, you still end up with a nice all-around jean.

With $220, you can easily go one up to the vintage repros category. Take a look around Superfuture's Supermarket. Samurai S5000VX sized down1 is a good option with a little space in the thighs. There's some running for about $200.

Based on my experience, Nudie Jeans. Try ebay.

PCs are nice for a first pair of denim size down 2-3 sizes. New Cure for a skinny fit, New Standards for a strait fit, and Rescues for a baggier fit. Context just got some in. They'll run you $140.

If you want something more expensive try getting some lightly used pairs off here or on superfuture. You can easily get some steals for $150-220.

Big bump for 2013!

As Gustin states they sell you a $200 pair of jeans for $80, Unbranded, Uniqlo Selvedge and other players came to the scene, what are your best options for under or around $200 nowadays?

How about Japan Blue Jeans for JPY13.440 (Rakuten ~ $135) or Flat Head (JPY 19.000, Rakuten ~ $195) or any other Japanese brands for that matter? Are they twice as good (build, fabric, durability, fades, fit, comfort) as Gustins, Unbrandeds and Uniqlo Selvedges and the likes? US vs. Japanese vs. European brands?

Not taking customs into consideration. I am in super-expensive Europe, by the way.

E bay us a good place to score some cheap raw denim if you can get lucky with the fit once you receive them. If they don't fit, you have to resell them.

You sound mysterious. What do you mean by a short experience? ;)

Anyways, thank you for introducing me to this brand. Seems interesting. Worldwide shipping from Singapore: http://www.tuckshopsundrysupplies.com/product-category/brands/red-cloud-denim/

US store: http://abfits.com/shop/?wpsc_product_category=red-cloud-co-brands

I wonder how these compare in quality, value to similarly priced brands from Japan.

Short as in I've only just had them for a few days. The fit, the denim and the construction is excellent for the price, but then I got them from China.
