    Hello all Style Forum participants

    I have been looking at the forum and comments about hk tailors and it has been extremely enlightening. I have noticed that a large number of recommendations for suit tailors and the standard names tend to pop out, these being w.w. chan and Gordon Yao.

    While they have been described as providing some of the best cutting, I also note that they are not necessarily cheap and is averaging HK$10k+.

    I though it would be a good opportunity to hear about people's opinions for recommended tailors for different price ranges I.e.
    • Less than HK$1,000;
    • between HK$1,000 to HK$2,000;
    • between HK$2,000 to HK$5,000;
    • between HK$5,000 to HK$10,000; and
    • greater than HK$10,000.

    Surely, while the more you are willing to pay the more likely the final product is to be of a better quality, I'm sure that people have had experience with different suit tailors at different price ranges that are not half bad. Hopefully, this could serve as a repository for recommended tailors at different price ranges.

    Cheers.

    All this is to be found by searching.

    Your concern to provide "repository for recommended tailors at different price ranges", whilst touching, is really no more than excuse for not reaching your own conclusions.

    It would indeed be helpful if you did some research first, summarized what has been posted already here - which should at least be 2-3 pages worth - and then invite people to comment/add.

    Also, not sure why you are looking for quality suits below HK$2k.

    Did the OP do a currency conversion? HK$10K is approx. $1300 US. Looks affordable to me.

    What about if you click on the "search" function, research the threads on HK tailors and collate the information for us?
    That would satisfy your requirements whilst helping this community as well.

    Thank you everyone for your contributions. It may be my poor searching skills but most search results have been skewed towards w.w. chan and Gordon Yao and price has been regularly omitted in posts.

    Just to respond to the one post about their view of it being affordable, that was clearly not the point of the original posts; price is, fortunately, one of the most objective matters to assess and adding your subjective opinion to this appears quite redundant.

    Huh? I clicked this thread with high interest, just to find nothing useful. So there is actually another thread that summarize all the different Hong Kong tailiors in different price ranges?

    It would be a very long post, there's like hundreds of them. Some excellent, some good, some not so good, many are rubbish.

    Anyone care to summarise 14,500,000 Google Search results. :)

    Probably like trying to summarise all the Chinese restaurants in HK.

    In OP's defense, it's pretty impossible to get info on good budget tailors. There are a bunch of tailors in the lower price range and these tailors go from random Middle-Eastern guys that keep trying to sell you their suits in the streets or small operations that take measurements then get the suit made in China.

    I've had a MTM tuxedo made for about $150 for my high school prom and while it's passable and better than anything I can get at Nordstrom Rack at that price point, I wouldn't recommend it. FIts my body a little better but armholes are still out of wack and overall construction is nothing to write home about.
