My Persol 714s met their maker over the weekend. Snapped right at the nose bridge. Not overly upset, as I have owned them for the better part of 5 years and got my money's worth. However, I need a new go-to pair. Specifically, I'm looking for a pair of tortoise shells that are between 50 and 52mm, polarized and preferably between $200 and $300 (though price is flexible). I'm generally partial to a Wayfarer-like shape, but I'm open to other ideas (please no sunglasses that look like they belong to a Batman villain). So, any recommendations? As some background, I'm not interested in the New Wayfarers. They seem to sit awkwardly on my face. And while older models fit great (I still have a beat up pair somewhere), I really don't want to go the whole vintage route and gamble on how a pair will fit. In terms of the Wayfarer mod, I really like these, though I don't know much about Shuron. I've also owned the Persol 2953s, though I'm not sure I want to go the Persol route again. For some reason it seems like every douche and his brother have a pair these days. Enlighten me, SF, where should I be looking for classic, tastefully designed sunglasses? Just as open to brands as specific models.
