Recommendations for a leave in conditioner

I have fine, dry and slightly wavy hair. I've been using a leave in conditioner (American Crew) after shampooing to soften my hair, but I was wondering if there is something else that can do a better job perhaps?

Also, I know some people swear by not shampooing hair everyday as a way to control dryness (and makes hair easier to style), but rather every other day or whatnot, but when I don't wash my hair, it is out of control. One side is flat, the other side is up, it's not good times. Is there a trick to this?

Paul Mitchell The Conditioner is good, if a little on the heavy side. Kiehl's formula 133 grooming stuff (forgot exact name) is a little lighter.

Yes. Don't shampoo everyday, but still condition. I'm not sure if this would work with a leave-in conditioner, though, since the rinsing is what evens out your bed-head.

Also, FWIW, I used some of my girlfriends shampoo (and no conditioner) for the first time recently, and I have to say, using a quality shampoo makes a huge difference. Her stuff is around $45 for a small bottle, though, so I'll have to look into something a bit more economical. Hers is some kind of kerastase product.

briancl is right, using a quality shampoo makes a big difference
but you don't have to go to kerastase prices (although some targets are now carrying some kerastase products for 1/3 less than salon prices ..... )

baxter of california makes a great everyday protein shampoo and korres makes a great aloe and soapwort pH neutral shampoo for frequent use

each are in the $10 - $12 range

if you need added control for your hair, you may want to look at kiehl's creme with silk groom which is basically a leave in conditioner pre hair styling control product and one of the long standing kiehl's products that really does work .....

That advice might work for women, but shampoo daily, please. Men sweat more than women. Using a different shampoo or conditioner might help. However, with dryness, the problem might be fundamental and related to diet. If the skin is also dry, diet probably is part of the problem.
