specifically 60s/70s era soul. i picked up an Otis Redding greatest hits album recently and it rules. i'm sure there's this whole musical genre that i'm severely missing out on.

Let me educate - enlighten - and show the truth.

Curtis.

Mayfield.

That is the Super Bad Phd level though. If you are white, you might want to start out at something a little less... funky... and work your way up.

Sadly, you peaked early. He was the best; everything else will disappoint. Get the box set, listen to the live version of 'Shake', and try not to cry when you think about how young he died.

I ******* love soul

My latest album I've acquired is by little know Cincinnati artist Kenny Smith. It is brilliant. A great introduction to soul / funk sounds of the 60's and 70's are the Deep Funk compilations put out by Keb Darge.

Curtis Mayfield FTW.

Much of the early Ike & Tina catalog was dripping in soul, though I guess it was more funk than anything.
