yes, another one of these threads, sorry to make everyone insane. I have ~ 160 bucks to spend on jeans, and I'm wondering what to buy. I'd prefer to go on denimbar and use the SF discount...I'm looking for raw denim, preferably selvege, and not super-skinny...should I go nudie, APC, acne, what?

help me out...thanks!

If this is your first pair you can't go wrong with APC New Standards. That's what I started with and now I have like 5 other pairs of raw denim. I'm not so sure if the Denim Bar has them in stock atm though. Nudies also might be a good start, however the stitching might turn you off, like they did for me.

I would follow your advice on the APCs, but the only length they come in is 34s...I'm about a 30-31 normally, would that mean they'll be super super long, or just ill stacks? Also, what's the difference between the new standard and the standard? DB doesn't exactly explain...

You can stack them or hem/chain-stitch them according to the fit you want. NS look sorta weird without at least SOME stacking imo... I'm also a 30-31 inseam so it'll work out someway.

I'm normally a 29 but i sized down the standard 2 sizes (check the APC sizing thread). Also I just left my NS's unhemmed cause I liked the way they stacked with a fold. I'm thinking about hemming my Hipsters though.

You'll even have a little money left over to get something else. There are a lot of places with sales going on right now so I would look for some good deals too.

sorry, did you read anything in the original post?
also, if you read around here you'll find that brands like lucky, true religion, and 7FAMK are not very well-regarded...

thanks, that's helpful...I'll prolly just get the 34s...also, how do the hipsters fit? I've read that they squeeze your nuts like a vicegrip, are they really that bad?

Hipster's definitely crushed my balls for the first weeks. I still have painful memories and I believe I've developed something related to phantom limb syndrome. I finally got fed up and soaked them whilst stretching out the crotch area and they fit great now. I like the straight leg more than the slightly tapered leg of the NS. One more warning, don't expect to be able to pull **** out of your pockets without looking like a marsupial on the Hipsters.

Everyone has a lot of hate for 7FAMK but I do have to say they are the best fitting jeans I have ever worn. I'd hate to sound like a tool but they really make my lower body look good. Better then my Earnest Sewn's and Bootcut Olas.

be that as it may, I'm looking for raw selvege jeans, not something that'll make my skinny unmuscular white boy ass pop

I think 7FAM have a good fit and are very comfortable but are lacking in the area of durability. I also think the BOLAs and ES Fulton/Filson/Hutch are a more flattering cut.
