Recommend me an external hard drive

The harddrive on my laptop is approaching capacity. Mostly pictures from my digital camera. The laptop is a 2 year old Sony, if that matters. Just looking for a convenient storage solution.

They have prebuilt setups, or you can just buy a loose drive and an enclosure and put it together yourself.
I have the best luck with Fujitsu and Western Digital drives.

this stuff just gets cheaper and cheaper. i remember just 2 years ago, getting a 500GB drive was around 300-400 dollars.

sooner or later, we all will have a 1 Terabyte thumb drive you can pick up at 7-eleven for like $9.99

I've got one of these and it works fine. I don't use the software that comes with it, though. I just click and drag the files I want to save.
