i usually where a pair of chucks around town. i'm tired of having wet socks when it rains. please recommend me shoes you think i would like. no boots. yes post pictures.

If you can find a pair of 'gortex lined' chucka's, you will be all set. You might take a look at Danner boots Light Hikers.

Danner also made a Gore-Tex oxford at one time. I believe they were called the Edgewood. They were a bit chunky for my tastes (I owned two pairs, once) but when I had a 30 minute commute (walking), they were great at keeping my feet dry during rainy days.

Danners (well, most of them) are also made in the USA, if that matters to you. That's one of the reasons I have three pair of Danner boots (Patrol, Blackhawk II, Explorer). I avoid China made Danners.

Edit: the Danner Edgewood looked a lot like the J&M shoe that Composer posted.
