I'm looking for a Vintage Willis & Geiger Safari Jacket

I have research and it show that Vintage Safari jacket from Willis & Geiger which is made in USA is very good quality. However it seem quite hard to find one, and I can only found some Willis & Geiger which is made in China (which I believe more up to date).

Does anyone have experience with recent W&G which is made in China ? Is the quality good as the old made in USA? and do you recommend any other Safari jacket brand that up to or surpass the level of W&G for a decent price ?

many thanks !

Didn't W&G close decades ago? Has the brand been relaunched?

No is not, but they have 2 line which is made in USA ( I believe very old) and 1 line is made in China... So I do not know if the quality is about the same !

Didn't know they had things made in China, so don't know the quality of those items. I have a backpack from them that I like. The tag says made in the USA.

Once in a blue moon you see NOS W&G on eBay and it commands a pretty penny. The W&G stuff from way back in The day is extremely well made and built for rigorous outdoor activities. I had no idea the brand name got sold and is pasted on sub-par crap now, though I’m not surprised. The old stuff was incredible. The safari shirts were made in a cotton weave that was briar proof yet could breathe.

Their mistake - like a lot of heritage brands - was growing too big, trying to get into every mall, and getting flipped from one PE group to another. For a while they road the wave of the popularity of leather flight jackets in the 80’s. They had made REAL ones in WWII. Hindsight is 20/20 but they should have stayed a niche brand.

When they started winding down you could stumble into some incredible deals. I found a bird hunters jacket made in their safari cloth at the flagship Dillard’s in Little Rock marked way down. My wife talked me into giving it to her sister’s (then) husband for Christmas. They later divorced and all I could think of was me giving away that great jacket. I never really liked the guy anyway.

As I found out the brand have been sold many times, but Don't know that the Quality of the Made-In-China is as good or they just a Fake one?
