1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Seiko automatics don't wind via the crown.

If its similar to the seiko 5 I have you don't 'wind it,' not in the traditional sense at least. It 'winds' itself using your body motion, so either wear it or just shake it for a min or two every once in a while.

Right, but with most automatics you can still fully wind them with the crown. Not sure why you can't with a seiko.

I'm guessing that they cut a few extra things to keep the price low.

I don't think anyone buying AE thinks they are "cool."

man I was just thinking to myself, there has to be some "cool" AE's out there. So I quickly checked the AE website and thought, nope. However, on a second look, some of the same shoes on shoemart.com with more pictures actually look decent. I guess if for some reason they fit you better than Aldens then there's nothing wrong with that.

Maybe cool wasn't the right choice of words (nor was it a slam against AE as a brand), but I can't really see much to like about those at all. Very dull.

Finally pulled the trigger on a pair of LVC 1944 501s from Oi Polloi. [IMG] Should be here in 3-5 days and fit pics to come afterwards. If anyone asks as to why I didn't buy Japanese repros instead of these, it's because I work at Levi's thus...I can only wear Levi's bottoms at work haha

I never said they were cool. But for 30 bucks, I like them and that is what counts to me.

How are they any different from other similar shoe companies' shoes? I mean what sort of lace ups do you find 'more exciting'?

And +1 - what he said- I mean for $30 they're pretty damn nice

Exactly, what do you consider exciting in regards to shoes? I would really like to know.

That's pretty much the point, they're basically designed for conservative businessmen and the like
