A few of my recent favorite things... . All J.Crew, all the time. Top two were under 20 each from the Final Sale.

Next up, of course, the infamous Spenser Shawl Collar cardi (for the record, after a round of returns, I finally settled on a Large as best-fitting!), and the ribbed cotton sweater jacket:

Krane "Emory" Bomber. It is simply amazing. Oak has the better pictures in this case, and their medium is a 40 (short arms though. I would recommend sizing up if you don't have midget arms) and Context has a 42 left.

Apparently the Berlin cut is higher rise (mid-rise then, I guess) and more relaxed at the thighs but I thought mine were pretty relaxed in the thigh area as well. Mine are also more of a jean/pant kind (very thin/light weight). They're black though, and waxy in a matte kind of way. Looking forward to pics.
The detroit cut is similar to dior 19cm and generally with someway frayed hem (where it's meant to tear a little, at least mine are). The berlin cut is still relatively "slim" but definitely not skinny. Probably similar to dior 21cm, where they're slim (not tight) in the thighs and generally a straight leg with maybe a slight slight taper. I had a pair of berlins in the i think dust wash, but sold them because i wanted something slimmer. In retrospect, i should've held onto them as the quality was nice, and a good relaxed (for what i'm used to wearing at least) fit. Vashin- What did you end up getting? I completely forgot about it and just emailed them seeing if they had the grey cash/wool trousers in my size left. I still wish they had the blue suspender ones in my size. I'm gonna be jealous if those are what you got. If i had more balls and a climate that would allow me to wear it, i would've snatched that caped mac lightning fast

Yes, no doubt my favorite purchase in a while, next to the shawl cardigan.

I just got the tuesday jacket and the grey trousers. I'd post pics but I forgot to bring my camera cable to school.

I got an XL/42, and I'm normally a L/40. I think I might have fit into a Large but this fits about perfect. It's slimmish but I could layer a sweater under it.

The v's actually a little deeper than my photography shows. I'm feeling a little uncertain about the colors of the v and the crew now, I have to admit. Not sure what these will go with much besides jeans.

The quality of the Harrington is pretty clearly not in the same class as Baracuta. The lining, rather than being a dense cotton flannel, is more of a loosely woven acrylic. The shell is 65% poly/ 35% cotton, rather then Baracuta's 100% cotton (with a teflon coating). All that said, I like the way this fits and the quality is perfectly fine for a casual windbreaker. It cost $75 shipped, and the cheapest you can find a comparable Baracuta is about $150 from Modual on the B&S forum. I know there's a cheap deal on Ben Sherman Harringtons from overstock.com, but they only have navy and red and I really wanted cream/beige. I think I like the idea of cheap Harringtons as they're pretty painless to replace and I might want a different color in a year or two. I got the sweat shirt from the Rakuten store "American Clothing Cream," and I know that the store "Take Off" also carries this brand. they do cost about $115 plus shipping so it's not a screaming deal. You'll have to spend some time linking and searching through the Rakuten affiliate thread to get the hang of the place and get pages to appear in tranlsated form. The Raken affiliate rep is very helpful via PM. As for the quality, I doubt that it's as good as Buzz Rickson or Loopwheeler, but they fit really well and don't have the short torso/sleeve problem that Buzz has. It might also be worth your while to check out the options from Blue In Green (I almost went for the SDA indigo dyed sweatshirt instead). For a cheap alternative, the Urban Outfitters "Fink" brand is well styled and proportioned and only $38.

Man, that j. crew final sale is addicting. They keep re-stocking the sweaters. Just ordered a grey spencer cable crew and a blue shawl collar pullover. Plugged in a promo code for an extra 20% off, too.

Thanks for the thoughts. I attempted to navigate Rakuten some last night (their Post O'alls stuff looks great). Maybe I'll give it another go. I took a look at the Fink sweatshirt at our local UO recently and ended up not getting it. I'd like something a little more substantial.

The Harrington looks nice. I'm not hot to get one yet, but will pull the trigger at some point on some brand somewhere. I may just keep my eyes open thrifting. I'm certainly not averse to a vintage/off brand. I also have a green modified Harrington from Brooks Bros. My funds are a little depleted since I just purchased this from B&S last night:

    ^ Great buy.

It's certainly not uncommon to run into old Baracuta or Van Heusen Harringtons in thrift store. There's also vintage Izod Lacoste if you don't mind or can remove the alligator emblem.

Wish it was just as easy to thrift nice old sweatshirts. But a few pop up every other week on eBay and garner high prices, so anything's possible...
