how do PS shoes fit? IE US 8 in chucks size down to UK 7 in PS?

The PS shoes I tried on in a 9 (I am a 10.5D US) were still really big in the toebox. I didn't get to try on an 8.5UK but I'd assume the rest of the shoe would have been too small.
