Just ordered three minimally different basco Roma from Italy.

Goal

I like how that looks with less overhang. I didn't know anything about how to get that look (or anything about berets in general), but it seems at least one brand (Eloségui of Tolosa) has the same head opening diameter (~6.5 inches) for each overall diameter size (9.5 - 14.5 inches) and you just stretch the opening to your preferred size (this vendor has a video: )
