^^^ that can be said with anything fashion related though. Nike's cost a few bucks to make but sell for $100+. You can buy grey market pairs (where I think it's made by the same factory to spec so they can bootleg it) for much cheaper or knock offs.

Re jewelry, my 2c is that you are paying more for the design with good art, tiffany and what have you than the precious metal. My issue with this is that I can go to a jeweler and get most things either at the shop or made for less than the upchatge of the design + precious metal.

Like have them copy the design or have them make you something getting their own design? If it's the former that's just un policed IP theft. Not a huge deal but pretty much you are saying hey if I see a cool design I like I have someone make it for me on the cheap because I can't afford it.
