So along with those chinos, I also bought a pair of TCB slim 50s in size 34 and had them hem it to 30". According to Denimio's size chart, size 34 has these measurements:

Lo and behold, they are actually 33" in the waist and slightly under 13".

I talked to them about it and they escalated the case but said this morning that they won't refund/exchange because they've been hemmed and because "Our size charts' measurements are based on averages taken from multiple pairs of the same size and style. As these garments are made by hand, measurements may vary slightly for each individual pair. ".

I can understand a .5 - 1" variance but almost 3" smaller in the waist then listed on their own chart!? Now I'm stuck with a pair of pants I couldn't even wear if I wanted to.

That really sucks. Always my fear when shops offer that free chain stitch hem. They should at least offered you a gift card or nice discount code that could get you another item at cost.

Maybe those in the industry can chime it: Shouldn't you get more size precision with handmade, not less?

I'm glad that you got your money back and everything, and maybe they could have been more helpful, but to be frank, that is not how waist is measured. There is an obvious curve to this waist so either you bring it perfectly flat to measure the half-waist across (which is easy), or you measure the whole waist around (which is less easy).

As shown in your picture, 16.5" is not the half-waist of these jeans.

(unless their measuring guide is instructing you to measure the half-waist like this, of course... which would be wrong)

Yeah what Greg said. I typically always see the waist measurement taken straight across the with the waist aligned and laid flat.

It's possible that the waist is still smaller than advertised. And the thigh looks smaller anyway, so trying to get a size up or returning them is probably still the right approach.

I m late to this but the last 2 times I bought from Denimio, they sent me actual measurements from the pairs they were going to ship for verification. FWIW one was a pair of TCB slim 50s, so I gather size is all over the place for that model.
