Crew and saw these Beckman's which I have had my eye on for quite some time but had not pulled the trigger on and had not seen in person. I couldn't bring myself to overpay for Red Wings just because they are a J. Crew exclusive. I asked to try them on so that I would be able to size them appropriately if they ever went on sale on the internet. I was told that the store only had the display model that had been returned to this store (not my size) and that they were only available online and in the Manhattan store on 5th Ave. I live in manhattan so no big deal. I continued my shopping which eventually totaled around 600 dollars (got lots of nice stuff on sale). At checkout I noticed that they were giving 20% off with a J. Crew card account opening (usually 10% but a special this week). This made me curious about getting the Beckman's for 20% off which they said I could if I ordered them over the phone from the store and used my new J. Crew card. So i got on the phone from the store and placed the order with the aid of a very helpful salesgirl. When the total came up she put me on the phone and I agreed (320 less 20% plus tax)...all good. When the sales girl heard me repeat this she asked for the phone back and spoke to the J. Crew rep. Apparently since they were a "one-off" item in this store (returned there but not supposed to be available for sale) the display model had been sale priced at 179. She haggled with the woman on the phone for a while and then gave the phone back to me. Long story short I got $320 dollar boots for $179 less 20% plus tax (total was $156 and change). I have never had so much blind luck with a sale.
Sorry you did guys did not approve of my story....I was a bit trigger happy on the keyboard and judging from your responses...too verbose. I disagree that the boots are ugly. I actually think they are quite nice and very well made (especially for the price) but to each his own.

i did buy a lot (3 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of slacks, 3 casual button downs, some sweaters, etc.). I find I have a lot of more formal suits and dress shirts that I wear and, for me, J. Crew (this was my first time ever shopping there) filled in the casual part of my wardrobe quite nicely.

not at all. Where you screwed up was in glossing over the climax. Write it again, but try and bring the audience in closer on the boot deal this time. Make sure to depict the advancement towards ecstasy just the same as you felt it when the deal was actually going down. And use plenty of exclamation points to mimic the rise you felt physically!!

I have the '09 version of this and it's on the short-list of clothing items I wouldn't part with (barring some absurdly great offer). The fur collar is so ******* baller that it makes me use the term "baller," which I generally think is a marsupialed adjective. Yet the collar is low-key enough that you don't look like you're screaming for attention with your jawnz.

My lone complaint is the waxed cotton tends to pick up lint. It's not noticeable unless you're right up close, but I'm pretty OCD about that stuff, so naturally, it sticks out like a sore thumb if I go too long without running a lint brush over it.

^Is the 09 version the one with chambray lining? I got the chambray lining, dunno which year it is tbh. I used to have the Mathias fishtail which was absolutely amazing, but it was just...too much for GA.

Like you said though, I love the coat but my only complaint is waxed cotton as well. It's such a ***** to clean.

its 09 with wool or chambray i think. I'm planning on getting another liner on top of the wool body, it's way too itchy.

Wait, I'm a dummy. I've got the Cyril Aviator, not the Jonas Coat. The latter is actually my favorite piece of Krane outerwear, but I could never find it in my size at a good price. This past season's version had the added bells and whistles (and length), which I wasn't feeling.

I'd actually prefer the chambray lining, though. The military blanket concept is unique and it's warm, but I found I need to either be wearing a thick shirt or at least two thin layers, otherwise the coarse lining grates against the skin.

Uniqlo flannel shirts, $10 each. Never seen them this cheap.
