the best advice is to extremely well GPA wise (3.7+) and foster good, strong relationships with your professors :)

just made a fairly large, unexpected purchase: black BoO blazer. this one (it's 100% wool, though it doesn't say it here):

price was really good and the fit is just about perfect, maybe a hair snug if at all. fits a little longer on me than it does in the pic, so it doesn't really look cropped like that on me. anyone happen to know if these are fully canvassed?

    Yup

and Tween, more on what you said.......literally every 1st day of class.....I watch as every student just empties the classroom and walks out. I approach my Professor and introduce myself, say I'm looking forward to the class, etc, etc. EVERY time.....out of classes of 200-300 people sometimes, my Professor ALWAYS knew my name the entire semester. It works like a charm and can easily mean the difference between a B+ or A- or getting an extension on that paper (provided you're doing well in the class and continue to actively participate/say hello).

    I always recommend three things:

    Introduce yourself on first day
    Sit on the front row
Always go to office hours even if you know the material

correct. speaking from own little experience, there's a big difference between grading someone you don't know and someone you do

yes it turns out that fucking around in school, skipping your classes and never talking to the professor because you bolt for the door as soon as the class ends doesn't really bode well for your academic future.

Also dressing well every now and then for class translates well to some professors as if you have a professional mindset in school. Especially at my uni where EVERYBODY wears sweatpants or gym shorts. I was looking nice for this test last year, dress shoes freshly polished, nice button down......professor asked me why I looked so serious today? I told him 'because I take my tests and academia seriously'. Got offered to do some research by that professor weeks later and at the end of the semester I was mysteriously told that I didn't have to take the final even though it was mandatory in the syllabus :teach:

TBH the biggest motivator for me in school, was becoming friends w people from less fortunate places such as Africa. Where they don't even have access to 1/1000th of the knowledge we have and they are happy to have access to the library so they CAN learn period. Makes you appreciate your education a little bit more and not just see it as 'a stepping stone to your career'.

Brad, I'm sure with the right professor that snakeskin DR might of made for a great conversation piece. 'So I was on vacation to the Amazon and this anaconda tried to attack me.......'

    Hahahaha

yea I dunno about that, also I don't think dressing one way or another makes a difference. I'm obviously not a full professor, but I have a taught a class and I don't care either way and I'm into clothes, so..
