There have been a handful of really good designers who have consistently had stuff made in India. Chatav Ectabit, for example, was manufactured there, as was the very shortlived "A Peace of String", also by Sandy Dalal, iirc. There are some pretty unique fabrics treatments and dyeing techniques there. A lot of midrange brands also have things like leather jackets made there.
