YSL has had a good designer for a couple years now, some interesting show pieces, huge J-leg pants and safari jackets, etc - but as is wont to styleforum, all of those runway pieces mean nothing if you buy some American boutique's watered down bread and butter chips.
Porter's retail on ysl stuff is more than the stores, the bombers are about 1000 cheaper and I don't recall the shearling but it wasn't porter ridiculous though still overpriced.
YSL has never been a conceptual brand really.
i assume you are talking menswear?
fall 08 and spring 09 are my favorites.
lol, you dont know shit about ysl.
Haven't been paying much attention to this thread but the last 15-20 pages are lol-worthy.
you have some fucking terrible taste. hedi >>> kva
He's talking about YSL though
Spring 2011 most definitely
you definitely know more about their biz cash trousers than i do that's for sure
I think he was referring to YSL not Dior Homme...
On the whole, I agree YSL usually isn't anything amazing. The materials are great as is the craftsmanship but it verges on a bit too basic for the most part. The tweed knit collar jacket Barneys has/had was pretty cool and versatile but nothing else was very intriguing to me. But I felt the same way about most of the collections in stores this season. Balenciaga's bomber jackets were cool but far too plain to warrant the price tag (whatever happened to those cool, multi material jackets from a few years ago?) and Jil had those nice felted wool coats but they too were astronomical in price (a black felted wool biker jacket for close to $2500...gimme a break).
Oh but to stay on topic, I picked up some YSL low heel, side zip boots in black. Good everyday boot but these need to be vibramed fast...the sole on them now is pretty damn thin.
yeah, i was just being agreeable . dont have the patience to explain ... .
