It will be amusing in 20 years to see which houses/names did not drink the koolaid, and to see where their brand equity lies.

i honestly think they're doing it for somewhat noble reasons. Most people in the world can't afford designer clothes, and this brings a little accessibility. Some of that missoni stuff is genuinely nice. Quality wil be pretty poor but it looks like the knits are actually wool, not polyester so that's at least a step up from most crap.

unfortunate that people are jumping on the resale game.

That is horse shit man, the world's people are not in need of branded goods as a human right.

Also, as the general fashion retail world in the West mimics what was in Japan 5-10 years ago, this stronger budget stuff with the lowest of bottom lines will only prove to make the real deal stuff more expensive and allow them to charge more. The general public in Japan buys domestic junk that has some shallow inherent value that doesn't exist in normal cheap Western clothes, yet nowadays what was mid-range stuff is now through the roof and all the hype and international coverage has not helped. Have you seen what a Visvim knit retails for this season? They're over $6,000 a piece now.

Baggy flowered pants, knock-off LV purse, a giant visor topped by a pink hand towel, and a scowl? All of this greatness now at Target?!

Reports of 'Merca's demise are greatly exaggerated me thinks.

+1. Although considering that the US Congress allocated several billion dollars to buy free digital TV decoders for the poor, one could argue that access to TV entertainment is now viewed by many as a human right. So why not designer clothing too? The recent US census data shows 65% of households in poverty actually pay for cable TV! If these people had to choose between premium TV channels and nicer clothing, guess which they'd choose?

The poor don't shop at Target, they shop at Walmart. Target's designer collections have always been aimed at the middle class person who believes that clothing should be CHEAP, even though most of them could certainly afford better. The money they save on clothing can instead be directed towards items that truly buy you status in America such as a nice car, a McMansion, or sending your kids to a prestigious university. Many will also prefer to use the money they save to eat out more frequently or go on vacations-- activities which make them feel like they're of higher status.

pictures dont do it justice, i tried it on in store and they were sick. Especially if you wear long length shirts like I do its not so exaggerated.

from the pics I assumed they'd be bad as well.
