Government gives us so many vacation days (26 a year, plus 15 or 16 public holidays) but my coworkers are overworked they can't use them.
English teachers in Japan can usually take the entire summer off, though.. All my English-speaking friends are pretty much out of here for the summer

How's the English teacher economy post-disaster? I'm thinking of switching countries and had been holding off due to Japan being so horribly over-saturated that there wasn't much to go for.

Plus would be nice to use the language I'm better at once again.

I'm in Tohoku, and it's mostly ... the same, I think. I don't feel like a ton of people left, and those who did were replaced soon enough. If you don't mind living a little bit in the countryside, there are much, much sweeter gigs than in the city, and you won't break the bank on housing and whatnot.

Can you apply as a JET? That's the best way to teach over here - all my JET friends are a lot more happy than my friends with private jobs. Otherwise, you have a lot of experience, I would try to apply to Colleges and Universities, or high schools. My friend teaches at two year women's university, and it is a very rewarding and relatively well-paying job.

Picked up some DRKSHDW drop crotch pants for half off at American Rag. Will go back this weekend to grab some Rick T-shirts that are also half off.
I've been wanting some for a long time so I am pretty stoked.

Pretty sure its because you buy the most boring and vanilla pieces that MMM puts out. If you disagree that's cool since you should buy for yourself and I only say this because it's what most other people think and why comments like that are made. Mystery solved! Cue the scooby-snacks.

Those pieces could actually be worn, together, in very interesting ways, or even in a boring, but good, way. The sweater is actually pretty nice, and has some interesting details.
