    thanks guys

The summer finally "broke" here in Florida yesterday. I was actually able to walk around downtown last night without sweating through everything. We're a long way from "colder" but "less hot" is better than nothing!.

+nice kops, I love that micro gingham!

I am thinking of purchasing this Orvis shawl collar. The reviews and your account of your sweater not being great are giving me pause. I tried on last seasons model in the store on 5th ave and the material is certainly rustic.

I am considering something almost identical made by Cruciani, but the price is giving me pause.

Depending on your size, check Ben Silver. They sell William Lockie sweaters just like that under their own name. Only problem is the smallest size they sell is a "Medium", which is a 44 IIRC.

I got one on sale a year or so ago for $100. It's highway robbery at that price.

I am curious about that Orvis one though. Looks good, disappointing to hear JRD's feedback.

The best price for Lockie is factory-direct. Their factory store is Heather Wallace.

Very interesting... I didn't know that.

Seems they don't sell a shawl collar there except for in camelhair, oddly. Wonder why that is.

Not sure. I stumbled across Heather Wallace by happenstance. However, it is Lockie's factory store, as confirmed by Allan Gilchrist, their sales director. In any event, it's my go-to for beater knitwear. I rarely buy new Scottish cashmere these days, but their Merino offerings are quite nice and VERY cost-effective.

I may email them and ask them--they definitely make a nice thick shawl collar (obviously, I have one) and am looking for another. You're right, it's very nice stuff, especially for the money.

    cross post, seeking advice.

Any ideas on matching this shirt? White/brown pinpoint oxford. I'm having a little trouble putting a good outfit together. Mostly odd jacket/trousers about half the time with tie. Thanks guys.

The cost is prohibitive for the Ben Silver. And no navy blue. I'll probably give the Orvis a shot. Most of the bad reviews are about the buttons falling off which is an inexpensive fix. One day it'll be the Drakes shawl neck!

I find it hilarious their smallest sweater is a 44 which basically means their knits are made for fat people.

Exactly this. That's just the way their target audience wears things. Besides, that sweater looks good a bit slouchy.

That target audience is wealthy Charlestonians, so not exactly the same as that comic...

Mi pops is a big Ben Silver fan (in CT not SC), and he definitely needs quite a bit bigger than a 44.

I had been hunting for something like this for awhile. Happy to have found it before fall.
