There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I'm not disappointed by the quality. I always find it hard to compare them to other brands, especially since I've only had them for a couple of hours :). And it's my first pair of Loake's.

But, I think I'm getting the Kempton's instead... Three pairs of red brick soled suede shoes is just a bit too much, even for me. And I hoped they were quite a bit shorter than my Tetbury's (which feel too big/long), but they're not. Sizing down isn't an option, since the width is fine. Also, though I like the colour, I would have liked them to be a bit more brown; they remind me too much of my grey suede Walk-Over's.

I wish this model had dark Dainite soles (like the Kempton's) and were slightly more brown; then I would have kept them.

I bought and returned the Kemptons last year, the suede nap was visibly different between right and left shoes, and the boots had other little flaws, returned them pretty unhappy with QC.

I hope too, I own and have handled others Loake 1880 and they are very good solid shoes.

    Edit: I've found a pic:

I like 'em (recently re-posted next to Westfield's here, post #7064) They're not as long/slim as that pic make them out. Pretty satisfied with both them and the Chiltern's.

I feel like I took a page from the stitchy book today. Nothing major, just some fleshing out. However, given the goal, I felt reminded throughout the entire process... Including this post of saying that I have something to post but not posting, which in my case because the lighting in my office needs work and the camera needs new batteries anyways.

Hm, I thought the red brick soles were interesting, but not sure I could wear a pair of boots as elongated as the Tetbury. Good to know though. Thanks.

Leffot had these chukkas last season, which I thought about getting. Looking back, maybe I should have.

I have a pair of calf Kemptons, and have owned a few other Loakes' 1880 shoes. The last on the Kempton is OK, though I sometimes think Loake's Capital (via the Pimlico model) might be better. My real complaint is that the leather hasn't aged well at all. But it's hard to say with these things. At some point, I relegated my Kemptons to just beater shoes, so they went out in really harsh Russian winters. I still take proper care of them (trees, conditioner, polish), but the leather itself just looks very wrinkly and aged. Much worse than any of my other shoes, but I suppose some would just chalk it up to "character."

If I were to buy another pair of Loakes again, it would only be in suede. I have a pair of suede chukkas they made for Charles Tyrwhitt. It's aged as well as any of my other suede shoes.
