1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I don't know what to think. On the one hand, I'm not a huge fan of the style, on the other hand, great for him that he wears whatever the fuck he wants to.

I think it's safe to say he's probably earned it.

Why do you think so? (Honest question)

Funny, this is in Berlin, only a few stops from where I live.

He is old enough to dress whatever the fuck he wants without caring about bloggers opinions.

Yea, basically he's old enough that at this point that he can wear what he wants to. Plus, it looks like he's put in some effort to keep up with trends, even though they may not be to the liking of most people on Sf. I can't say I've ever seen a dude that old (no offence to the guy) combining so many "popular" elements of men's style in a fit before. Skinny selvedge, what appear to be pretty cool boots, waist-coat, fedora, etc, while also sporting an I-phone. I don't think my grandpa has any clue what an I-phone even looks like, and this guy appears to be about the same age. Of course, minus the skinny jeans, he could have been wearing all this stuff for decades, so what the hell do I know.

I had thought someone would have identified him by now.
It can be none other than Klaus Finsterdoerten, now retired
    performance artist and techno theoretician.

I wouldn't call those jeans skinny on him, they're nowhere near tight. He's got skinny legs though. That's an ideal jeans fit IMHO. Go tighter and they're skinny, go slightly bigger and they're dad fit, go even bigger and they're baggy.

FWIW, I like the different components (except the hat), but I just don't think they jam that well together. Once again though, props to him for doing him.

You're right, they do fit pretty well. I guess I'm just looking at it from the perspective of what most guys his age wear, which is not selvedge denim.

    Wait, you smell that?

And know-it-alls on certain Styleforums where they talk as if they have such great style, then you see them post pics of themselves and turns out they hardly look better than average.

There are people who write well and organize sartorial information into a social science. And there are those who dress well. The two groups are not mutually inclusive.

This isn't true. The two groups certainly exist, but they aren't exclusive, they overlap. Certainly there are people like Alan Flusser, who write extensively, often insightfully, on style but don't appear to be able to dress themselves; but then there are people like Manton, Bruce Boyer or Vox Sartoria, who are perfectly capable of analyzing clothes and wearing them well.

His statement allows for that possibility...
