Recent Experience w/NYC Custom Shirtmakers?

After reading a few older threads it seems Paris Custom Shirtmakers, CEGO and Ascot Chang are the three most recommended shirtmakers in NYC (excluding bespoke orders from designer brands).

Having owned almost all of the big name brands, I am tired of the varying quality and size between shirts and don't feel like spending $400+ on dress shirts I typically keep for a year anymore.

None of the threads I read were very recent. Has anyone had any recent experience with these three or any other equal quality shops in NYC? Can someone give me an idea of what pricing would be? I would prefer to keep it under $250 a shirt, not sure if that would exclude any of them. I am leaning towards Paris and CEGO since I have not been very impressed with my prior experiences with Asian based tailors.

Feel free to PM me if you would prefer not to post publicly. Thank you!

I have been a regular CEGO customer for three years now. Carl has made me approximately 30 shirts. I have taken a few friends there, some of whom are now also regular customers. I have only had very positive experiences with Carl and my shirts. The shirts he made me three years ago are still in my regular rotation and look great despite the frequent wear. At this point, going to his shop is like visiting a friend. The one time there was a problem, Carl immidiately fixed it, no questions asked, and utterly refused to let me pay him, even though I suspect that I was at least partially responsible for the mix-up. Whily your results may vary, my experiences have been singularly positive. Sadly for you, because Carl has been so good to me, I haven't tried the other shirtmakers on your list. I am sure some of their customers will also have positive things to say about them.

Cost: Most of my shirts run between $135 and $215, but there are both cheaper and more expensive options for you, so you will be able to stay under budget (or splurge).

Edit: Writing that made me want to go buy some new shirts. Stupid March no purchase club!

In the same building as Paris, there is Geneva, which Manton has come to prefer. Your mileage may vary.

Depending on the strength of the pound, you might also consider a London maker who travels. There are some drawbacks to that, but if you find the right firm all can be tolerated.

Thank you for the responses. I am going to stop at Geneva the next time I am in the city.

Received my first order from Geneva (10-shirts) and couldn't be happier. The quality and fit far surpasses anything I have gotten from Bergdorf or Saks and Mike and Eugene couldn't be better to deal with.

As long as they are in business I will never go anywhere else for shirts.
