Somehow it never seems that easy when it's raining, snowing, freezing, etc......and when you finally do get a cab under those conditions the driver has a stench so foul it makes your eyes water....

Same. Get in before you tell them where you are going. Have had plenty of grumbling, but only once have I had a guy seriously try to refuse, and he ended up taking me when I threatened to call the TLC.

Also don't live that far into Brooklyn, and from my experience, there is no shortage of fares near me anyways.

drove into the city on Sunday and epic potholes are epic.. like Manila after typhoon season bad.

the middle lane of the merritt parkway and I95 north is epicly pothole laden. its safer to drive 80mph (on a 55mph limit) in the left lane than obey the speed limit and shred your tires/rims in the middle lane.

This is good to know. I have to drive on Sunday.
I store my car outdoors downtown and am hoping there will be enough of a thaw between know and then that I won't have to work to dig it out.

Totally agree that I don't want people crowding the cars I need to be in.

I'll usually move down the platform if it's too crowded though to increase my chances of getting on the train.

Last night I was taking the 4/5 uptown around 5:30 and needed to wait for 4 or 5 trains to pass before I could get on. Glad I don't live on the east side.

Peak hour travel is what gives public transit a bad name.

Not really, there are other issues off peak travel has such as not being frequent enough.

That's a trade off that I'm more than happy to make.
