What's the issue with Brooklyn for drivers? Crime? Or is it a long drive back with little chance for a fare?

does anyone here have any experience with relayride.com?

manhattan is where the good business is. brooklyn/queens you risk driving out there, no local business, and then (i believe) having to pay the $12 or so to re-enter Manhattan.

No. It is sheer laziness and a stigma.

given the fact that cab drivers have no problem going to the airports, I'm guessing it's not simply "lazy"

in any even, yet another reason to not live in Brooklyn. Going out, overdoing things at 2 AM, then walking outside and raising your hand in the air for a ride right to your door is one of the great things of NYC.

The snow has been unbearable, but tonight's has been really pretty. I took a 20 minute walk in the middle of it, and it was very relaxing. No traffic, no sound, no slushy crap. Just a tranquil powder.

    Not true.
A cab driver will get a fare back from the airport. They may have to drive back to the city "empty" if they drop someone off in Bklyn/Queens. $52 flat to JFK = $70 with tip both ways from the city. Say $30 bucks to Bklyn...and potentially nothing coming back....

wasn't that my initial point? Cabs out in Queens or Brooklyn have small chance of return business into Manhattan where the good business is?

I never have a problem catching a cab to Bklyn. I mean....every blue moon a driver may refuse....
But I get in first and then tell them where I am going. And I live right over the bridge so it's not that deep into Bk....
