Reasons why New York Sucks

    This. Unless I'm bringing my golf clubs, I pack into a carry on that's really easy to maneuver on public transportation. The $75+ to taxi to/from JFK or EWR is not worth it to me unless it's VERY early or late and I'm not the only traveler. If it's for work travel then I CAB ALL THE WAY!!!!!!

    I drive to EWK and leave my car in one of those off-site lots for $6/dy.

    Back to slush - corner of Amsterdam and 79th has 20' long x 10' wide x 8" deep puddles disguised as snow on each corner. How do I know this? Three soaked shoes.

    i'm almost always with a +1 who packs more. A cab, at the very least on the way back, is always worth the extra few bucks for door to terminal.

    This. Obviously, packing for a solo trip is one thing. Traveling with someone else, particularly for a trip that will involve varying social settings, is another.

    My experience living in Manhattan was that once I got a car and driver most of the everyday annoyances either disappeared or were greatly diminished. Seems like a simple thing but there you have it.

    I don't like sitting more than I have to. Bad on my back and my trou crease. I enjoy walking and don't mind the subway at all on decent days. I like the journey and the exercise. There's even some pretty ladies to look at to and fro my destinations.
