No, they probably came from Portland, OR.

I'm not worried, as I am used to whiny white people. Wait until the Asians start begging. Then you know we are seriosly fucked.

Anyone ever spent much time in Greenwood Cemetery? It's effectively my backyard now, and I went for the first time today and walked around for about an hour. It's pretty great.

    Probably part of an experiment.

I found it interesting to see Bresch. He's probably before your time. Even I only have vague recollections. Manton and et al might remember more.

You know what surprised me? The little Spanish kid on the subway this morning, jumping up and down, two inches from my face, screaming at me: "Wake up, wake up, wake up!" I know he was Spanish because his Spanish father (in shorts and wearing a backpack, of course) didn't do anyhing to stop him for more than two fucking stops, and then, only called out to him because it was time to get off the train.

Not beggars, but there is some advocacy group (pink vests, never gave them the time of day so I don't know what they advocate) that is permanently set up on 42nd street north of Bryant Park (across the street), always trying to flag you down and talk to you. Usually 3-4 of them.

If you walk on 42nd every day, it's seriously effing annoying. It's not your friggin sidewalk, dicks.

It's good practice for completely ignoring random people who try to talk to you though, which I agree is increasingly common. But maybe it seems more common because my hours are less ridiculous now, and they target peak crowds.

Effective, but I choose not to camouflage my disdain for them and either blatantly ignore them or give them a "fuck off" face.

They can tell I'm a conservative capitalist pig from a mile away, so it's never been much of an issue for me.

Are those the same people who employ guy/gals in their low 20s who always approach you like you are their long lost friend? So annoying.

Not just a NY problem. I fucking hate these people. They're permanently camped on an intersection 3 blocks from my house so I encounter them quite frequently. I perform the scowl and ignore move on them at all times in public and when they come to my door, which is increasingly common, I just say "no" and shut the door in their face.
