1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Eastern Long Island, North Fork. John Steinbeck died there and his widow still lives there.

No idea, I'm the only person alive who's never been to the Hamptons. In fact, I'm not sure I've even been to Suffolk County.

If you live in NY, or have ever lived in NY, and never been to the Hamptons, you are a non-person. May as well be dead.

Here is one reason NY is cool: I am seeing Tom Wolfe again next week. :slayer: When I am old and repetetive, I will tell everyone over and however how in my (relative) youth, I got to hang out with the 20th century's Dickens.

I've made it a point not to go to the Hamptons. I don't know, it takes a long time to get there, I hate the beach, it just sounds like a really long, boring, torturous trip to me. I honestly think most people go there just to say they went there.
