I've probably had chicken over rice from two dozen halal carts in NYC and my favorite one is the nutty old guy on Houston and Lafayette in front of that Bank of America with the stupid Old Navy display above it. The guy is a pleasure to do business with. He does a chicken salad that will melt your face off in spicy ectasy. Without a doubt the worst I've had is the guy on Delancey and Orchard late at night on weekends who charges an extra dollar for what I presume is to cover the ten extra minutes of labor it takes him to throw his shit together. Halal Guys failed to meet the incredibly high expectations I had going in, which were amplified through the anticipation in having to wait in line 15 minutes for it. The pita and aluminum tin are nice touches, but their rice is more orange and crispy than yellow and fluffy, which is how I prefer it. The Rafiqi's carts are consistently good as an alternative to the standard carts because they have a better lettuce and tomato game than the other players, but they have a frustrating tendency to oversell their available variety of toppings, and their white sauce is a wee bit ranchy.

i inevitably end up at Rafiqi's due to proximity. Def. prefer it over Hala Guys, but half that reason may be due to my inability to deal with lines.

    also, black olives are :slayer:

What can I say, I'm a sucker for two-wheeled kitchens powered by generators.

Best chicken and rice is in Astoria, king of falafel and schwarma. Now that I'm actually typing out the name, it sounds ridiculous.

The only semi decent szechuanness food place I have been to in NYC is Vie En Szechuan (near k town). I'm disappointed with the names though, why Han...

Szechuan Gourmet is my favorite. Not that I am an expert by any means, but I eat there quite frequently. Cold sesame noodles or Dan Dan depending on the mood plus Crispy Cumin Lamb = happy.
