It's been like 85 and sunny here the last few days. Based on some tv sports-watching this weekend, I'd say it's been pretty nice up north, too.

well in un-ACed Santa Cruz, they are biching that it's too hot. Still dry though, and it cools at night, both not true here.

Yeah, I just realized the same thing (minus the portfolio, plus wedding pictures). Luckily wife was already on her way home to meet cable (no, FIOS!) guy.

Any place you would hope or expect to be quiet isn't, simply because the other two million people looking for a quiet place in Manhattan are largely thinking the same thing. Libraries are a definite no; after school kids and foreign people rule the roost. Cafes aren't even a question. You have to think counter-intuitively, and be willing to accept the fact that the most quiet place in any given neighborhood might be on the sixth floor of some parking garage.

^ Church. Those big, pretty buildings with statues and crosses and stuff.

You should try reading at my place in the Adirondacks during the fall/winter. The only noise is the babbling brook in the little ravine behind the house. :slayer:

It is also a wonderful shelter from the heat during the summer.

One time I was there, however, an elderly man was unabashedly browsing porn on one of the public computers.
