Those pics of that guy don't seem to jive with an SUV slowly driving over him. Not a lot of sympathy on that fb page.

Either way, if he is truly paralyzed this is a tragedy that will go on forever.

Too bad for the soon-to-come comments from the other side that will range from the stated "but my boy is a good boy!" to "well if the guy in the Rover was carrying an AK-47, none of this would have happened."

And if they do, no way is he "going away." He will absolutely be getting sued though, which is why that motorcycle guy's family is in the press in the first place.

Also, there's no way they could ever reliably establish that there was no intent to beat the shit out of the guy when they initially caused him to flee, such that the eventual ass beating he received (plus he had his wife and kid in the car) could appear to many reasonable jurors as evidence that the initial fleeing was justified, no matter the collateral occurrences.

i can't imagine NYC jurors being too kind to motorcycle gangs. And NJ residents can't serve in the NY system, so already it's not a jury of one's own peers.

i'd love to hear closing prosecution arguments in a criminal case: "you know people like vicim 1. they're on their loud motorcycles and riding in large groups in your community every single weekend. sure, they're known to be reckless and dangerous and irresponsible, but that doesn't make them a constant and unrelenting part of your community fabric. and that's what this is about, community fabric, because you really can't get rid of it."

on a similar note, no doubt he's going get his eyeballs sued out of him by some celebrity attorney. All he really needs to do is a 60 second online funding effort featuring his wife and daughter, and he'd probably be funded in full plus her college education.

I was surprised to see that the comments at the linked biker site were all reasonable and saw the thug for the thug he is.

What if the video shows that he was just a part of the riding group as opposed to one of the guys who attacked the car?

Then they ought to charge every single one of the group that attacked the car with a myriad of crimes relating to his injury, as it was foreseeable that their actions would cause the collateral consequences.

Yeah, that was my point. [IMG] However, there is always a way to bend events and circumstances to one's will, otherwise most lawyers would be out of a job. There is a better opening/closing than that...
