Just a couple of years ago Quinn was being labeled as the sensible business-friendly Democrat. How things have changed. Is this the worst Dem field in modern memory?

I actually like Joe Lhota but he doesn't have a D after his name.

Lhota was handing out flyers at my subway stop a few weeks ago. All that i thought was "oh shit, subway hurricane guy!"

NYC hasn't voted for a Democrat as mayor since 1989.

Considering a Dem hasn't been elected mayor in 23 years in a city where Dems outnumber Repubs 6 to 1, I'd say no.

I'm aware, but that trend will break this cycle.

i'm still trying to wrap my head around this:

Enterprise renta a car, anywhere in Manhattan: $132 a day for sub compact "chevy spark or similar"

Enterprise rent a car, Newark Airport: $21.97 a day. Yes, $21.97.

taking the bus to Newark airport is never really fun, but it runs frequently enough and is cheap enough that the $300 in savings over the course of 3 days is kind of a no brainer.

Other options I have used are the Hertz in Jersey City and the Hertz at the North White Plains Metro North stop.

Can actually be faster when you factor in traffic getting out of the city, but it is a pain in the ass for sure.

the Hertz in north white plains quoted me roughly the same as Newark Airport. Is it near the Metro North station? Going forward, we may really consider that for traveling upstate.

we'll probably stick to Newark for this strip since we're going down to Cape May, NJ. The Jersey City Hertz quoted like $80 a day, which isn't bad, but it's not $21.97

Yeah, it's literally across the street. Easy as could be.

    Does the price include fees?

I remember when I had to rent cars I'd bike all the way to Middle Village, Queens Enterprise rent a car (because the Q54 bus took too long) but usually got pretty good deals: something like a prius for $60/day or a dodge charger (super fun and actually pretty roomy and nimble) for $60/day and the econoboxes for a little over $40/day.

There's a M train (last stop) sort of nearby (about a mile walk down).

the place is pretty dingy, and you kind of have to fight the crowds during the friday/weekend (they are only open till 12noon on a saturday and closed on sunday) but the prices are ok, and they'll actually drive you the subway after you return the car.

I know there's a enterprise in downtown brooklyn, but I've never actually rented from them.

yes, we had 3 month old twins and were stuck up on the 21st floor - kinda scary. that's when i first realized that a sandy-like situation could really wreck havoc.... luckily it was over pretty quickly. still, in those 24+ hours i was up and down those stairs in the dark more than i care to remember..

when it first happened i was downtown at work. a buddy called his dad and told him what happened - his dad said 'get the f#ck out of there!' and w/o a word my friend took off at a sprint and disappeared across the brooklyn bridge...
