I happened by this "old thread" by accident tonight when I googled "Zegna MTO" - This story had a happy ending as it turns out a few months later I bought the suit for $1300 on sale. Still a few bucks to spend but the suit been worn once or twice a week for for the last 4 or 5 months so i must like it.

Great. Zegna gets undeserved crap on here just because it's a "big name" brand and not some obscure Neapolitan maker. But they make a great suit with top-notch fabric.

At least here if you hit the outlets you can get things for a fraction of normal retail. OTOH you're trading time for money. So it's not like the lower prices at the outlet don't cost you anything.

I've picked up two Zegna jackets on B&S for nearly 80% off retail. I'm wearing them often, so it's a definite plus for me. Very nice fabric.

Zegna is ok ..Far better than most of the Italian designer suits...2220 US dollars is way too much..
I got a Kiton for that price in Italy..

BTY if you like Samuelsohn or Copley I found a place in Vancouver that does both in MTO at 15% off all the time.

Anyone know where this is?

I own both Zegna MTM and Samuelsohn MTM. The Zegna is definitely nicer, but I would go with Samuelsohn again. Much better bang for the buck.

EDIT: Oops, sorry. Didn't realize this was a necrobump.

+1. Buy it on discount. It is great business wear.

After scouring numerous sales and outlet stores, I actually bought a navy Zegna suit at full price ($2000). I know its a lot, but the experience was so much more comfortable, and I was getting exactly what I wanted.

Its very tough to buy high quality staple suits at a deep discount, from what I've seen. A 2-button notch lapel navy is probably the hardest to find. You need a lot of patience and a lot of time. I needed a suit ASAP and like what I got.

Side note: I did see a navy Isaia a few months ago for half the price at a warehouse sale, that I didnt pick up. Still think about it sometimes

Most Filene's Basement's are PACKED with Zegna suits. They are all sub $700, maybe even sub $500...
