So I just squatted down and ripped my suit pants (Zegna) in the butt area about 3 inches. I've worn this suit only a couple times (my first suit I've owned was supposed to be for interviews). This Is upsetting because the tailor let out the butt area allready as much as possible and this means it's just not going to fit. Is there anything I can do to safe this really expensive suit or do I just need to take this as a loss and go MTM because of my weird porportions? This puts me in a bad situation right now because I will have interviews coming up for the next 4 months (and this was my go to suit I was going to use). If anyone has any suggestions of what I should do it would be greatly appreciated. I have been having so much trouble lately finding a suit and dress clothes that fit because I have a muscular upper body and wide back but also a small waist. So is there anything I can do to continue wearing this suit or do I need to just find a MTM shop in my area and buy a new suit (buffalo,NY)

Did it rip along a seam?

Same happend to a pair of incotex I had. The GF laughed and said they were too tight anyway. Embarrassing that I had to use a shopping bag to cover the gaping hole in my pants until I got home...

Sounds like the alterations tailor did a bad job.

Yes It did rip along the seam, so I can get them fixed but it only looks like there is a half inch of extra fabric for the tailor to move out. Which probably won't make it big enough for my butt.

I would just like to point out that your screen name seems particularly appropriate for this misfortune.

I thought of the Incredible Hulk when I read the thread title. Hulk upset, Hulk tear pants!

Anyway, just have them sewn up again, better this time, and try to lay off the beer and potato chips (or whatever) until you're done interviewing or can afford a new suit.

Burn the suit and in future don't kid yourself as to the size you really need. Alternately move at least to MTM.

Luckily it's just muscle from working out and not from overeating! But on the same note should I be able to move in almost any direction when wearing a suit? I know I wouldn't be able to play football but to think that I'm not going to be able to bend over in any direction when wearing dress clothes seems a little unreasonable.

It does sound from your description as if the suit just doesn't fit--despite the alterations. Before I moved to bespoke suits, I had this happen on a number of vintage trousers, none of which were too tight. I quickly became competent enough with a needle and thread to repair a seam.

This happened to me lately right after a job interview and it was all the way from waist to the crotch area, leaving my whole bum exposed

Later I understood that it was a stitching problem and the rip started right from the corner of back pocket.

Ya it actually ripped in the same way as that picture, just not as bad. Are bespoke suits better anyways? And does bespoke the same as MTM?
