I am learning how to authenticate Burberrys. The quality of this one looks good, good stitching and such. But the nova plaid looks different than the trademark Burberry's trench. It is single breasted. There is a label in the pocket, not sure what this means and what order number means. never seen linen white pockets before. I was certain this was authentic because of the label with order number but after investigation, I am wondering if this is just a really good fake.

It's real. Women's trench from the mid-80s (or thereabout). The nova check is what Burberry/Burberrys is known for but they have used plenty of different plaids over the years.

To be honest, most vintage fakes ('Burberrys' label instead of the newer 'Burberry') are going to be pretty blatantly fake for the most part.

Yes it is, also those 80's Macs are far better quality than what they produce nowadays, not counting the Prorsum/Runway stuff.

Agree, it is authentic. Disagree though with the statement about all older versions being better. The older ones with cotton blend are IMO not the most desirable ones as they don’t breathe as well as the pure cotton ones and were merely following the doubtful trend towards polyester in the 70/80ies. I own both a vintage (pure cotton) and a new Burberry trenchcoat (both purchased at Burberry, so authentic) and the quality of the new one is impeccable and, in my humble opinion, slightly superior to the old one: especially seams are more precise and the fabric, which is 100% cotton gabardine and lighter weight than in the old days, drapes better, has a softer hand and doesn’t wrinkle as much. Just my view though. Price is however hefty these days and you can argue if they are worth it.
