I purchased a Raymond Weil watch Don Giavani 25 October 05.

A little more than a year later, saw some condensation in the glass.

I was a little suprised by this as the watch as I take off when showering. But still the watch was in the bathroom at the time, so although would not be directly subjected to water would be still experience rapid changes in temperature.

Anyway, I took it back to the store they sent it to Raymond Weil repairer.

They have quoted me $540 AUD to fix the watch. They stated that the mechanism, crown and seals are broken. I thought no way Im going to pay that since I got buy another watch for that price.

I got the watch back, the condensation is gone, but there are marking on the watch face, which wasn't there before.

The watch still keeps time, but the mechanism is probably screwed up since it is very stiff when setting the time.

This is slightly more than half what the watch cost me to purchase.

What advice can you give me? Is the warranty such that the repair of the watch will not be covered by the warranty?

It is possible that there was only a one year warranty with the watch and as such the warranty has lapsed? I thought when I bought the watch they mentioned a 2 or 3 year warranty. But I can't actually see that mentioned anywhere in the documentation.

The store have been very vague with me and even suggested I take it to another shop to fix. This would void any warranty I would have remaining on the watch and be careless.

I would post this on the public forum at Timezone. I'm sure you will get excellent advice there.
