I have a quick question about denim in general, and I cannot find the answer anywhere. I know the difference in processing and manufacturing between sanforized and non-sanforized jeans. I also no the non will shrink to fit your body. Is there any concern for the quality or how they wear?

I am looking to pick up some Ande Whalls, and have no clue as to the benefits of either. Can someone help me out with pros and cons?

Thank you!!!!

Steve

If you know the difference in sanforized and non then you generally know the difference in raw and STF

One of the main differences has to do with 'train tracks' or 'roping' at the seams, hems, pockets, etc. I'm tired; someone else can probably explain that better.

yes

sorry, i mean raw non vs. raw sanforized? they are both raw, but what is the better choice? always better to get one over the other. The STF requires soaking for a true to size fit, so how will each wear exactly? thanks

There is no better choice. If you get hung up on authenticity, and like to play with shrinking your jeans, and think sitting in a hot bathtub while wearing them will make them fit better, buy shrink to fit denim.

If none of those matter to you all that much, get sanforized. Both will fade well over time.

I also think that STF unsanforized jeans will be stiffer if you hang dry, and won't have as much as a sheen. According to the Ande Whall website, they will also be darker, but I'm not sure if this is prior to soaking or not. STFs usually seem to be a deeper blue color in my experience.

i thought this was going to be a contest between sanforized and STF jeans. If ande whall wants to run another contest i think that would be a cool theme, one group gets sanforized denim and the other group gets stf
