If you have a choice, which one would you pick and why? What are the pros and cons?

I would typically purchase one was in unsanforized (Japanese) and raw in sanforized (american/european) simply because I prefer the dry color and texture, but don't like the size vagaries that come with unsanforized raw jeans. My SDAs were one-wash and my canes are my only raw unsanforized jeans, but were hot soaked by the previous owner already, so I guess they are technically one wash haha.

Thank for bringing up the sanforized/unsanforized. The raw denim that i'm interested in is probably unsanforized ( Japanese ) since their size 30 is a 32 and expected to shrink to 30 after one-wash. Something about RAW and the idea of breaking them in very appealing. The down side of course, is there is no way of knowing what the actual fit would be like after it's been washed.

I'm not sure if this is true in all cases, but in my experience, so far, the other issue is that unsanforized denim also tends to lose more indigo, which is annoying if you like to wear light colored shoes/socks or have light colored furniture.

I've been told there is basically very little difference between the two once you soak your raws anyways.
