Studying for finals a friend just spilled a coffee with chocolate syrup on my APCs that I've had for 2 months or so. They are currently drying but I'm looking for advice - is now the time to wash them or should I try to spot-clean them? I won't know the whole damage until they dry but the spot is about six inches in diameter over the left pocket.

you have one option:

1. Make a large batch of coffee, purchase bulk chocolate syrup and buy a small utility bucket. Pour coffee and syrup mixture into bucket, and dip the jeans repeatedly until the jeans have a uniform dye. While performing this ritual, call upon ancient japanese spirits to guide and protect you through the dip-dying process. Do this no less than 30 times.

2. Walk around with what will look like a **** stain on your pocket.

3. Wash them.

You could try a soak (as opposed to a wash). That'll probably get a lot of the coffee and sugar out without taking out too much indigo. If they're that new the little bit of coffee that does stain the weft threads probably won't be noticeable.

And then kill your friend.

1. Your friend is a ******* philistine. Chocolate syrup in coffee? C'mon now, that ruins the taste of any reasonably good bean.

2. Just soak them inside out with a bit of mild soap and flat dry them. The "no-washing for 6 months or else" thing was lame in 2005, and it's lame still, now.

Thanks for the feedback. The coffee wasn't that noticible but she had hazlenut syrup in it too that stunk, so the pants are cold washed and flat drying. Also, don't worry - I wore a coverall while dumping her body so I didn't have to clean out any other stains tonight.

She also got coffee on an expensive Italian polo of mine, but I don't care as much becuase I think of my jeans as a living entity.
