This has probably been addressed before but I couldn't find it so I apologise.

I have a pair of APC New Standards (indigo) that have seen about thirty or so days of wearing. I'm still working on breaking them in and plan to dry clean them when I reall have to for the first time.

The problem arose when I found an awesome pair of white Fred Perry's on sale at Sak's Off Fifth. They're white leather lowtops that would look fantastic with the jeans. I'm aware of the staining issue and, assuming it's an inevitability, how noticeable is it? Anyone have any pictures of shoes that have taken some staining? I'm no perfectionist.

If it is bad is it easily cleanable?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
